Jimmy Styles raced freely, held up, smooth headway over 2f out, quickened up well to lead approaching final furlong, soon idled and edged right, driven out
Border Music tracked leaders, travelling well entering final furlong, soon ridden, kept on, not reach winner
Phantom Whisper held up, switched left over 1f out, soon ridden and headway, ran on, nearest finish
Dazed And Amazed chased leaders, every chance 2f out, soon ridden, one pace final furlong
Rainbow Mirage tracked leaders, effort 2f out, weakened entering final furlong
Southandwest chased leaders, ridden 3f out, weakened entering final furlong
Esteem Machine led after 1f, ridden and edged right from 2f out, headed approaching final furlong, weakened
Mac Gille Eoin held up, pushed along and headway 3f out, ridden 2f out, weakening when hampered entering final furlong
Golden Dixie broke well, led for over 1f, prominent, ridden 2f out, soon weakened
Woodcote awkward leaving stalls, soon pulled hard tracking leaders, ridden and hung right from over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
JIMMY STYLES travelled strongly, even taking a bit of a grip into the second half of the race as he sat behind the front rank. Finally pulled widest midtrack, he quickened up impressively to go a couple of lengths clear, then looked to idle and edge right before just holding on. The impression is that he can improve on this under an even more confident ride as he has a good burst of speed and this was his seasonal return. His stable does well with this sort and he is starting from a reasonable mark.
Border Music has won eight races but has threatened to win plenty more. Now seven, he showed he still retains his ability and arguably was unlucky as he nearly made up the lengths he gave the winner while still travelling on the bridle into the final furlong. His better all-weather form sees him 11lb lower on turf and on this effort he can take advantage, although he has always gone well fresh.
Dazed and Amazed does not always see out this trip but he gives the form a solid look heading the rest.
