Analyis of the race

This was run at a sound gallop, and BALLINTENI came from off the pace to get on top inside the last furlong to win his third race off his highest-ever mark. According to his trainer, Gay Kelleway, he is a talented horse but suffers from bad feet.

Jewelled Dagger ran a fine race in second, setting the pace and keeping on well to finish clear of the rest. He won four times last term, and though he went up 40lb as a result, he is clearly capable of winning off his current mark.

Granston was well back in third, travelling well off the pace, but not really picking up in the straight. However, he was a long way ahead of Film Festival, who ran on to take fourth from Suits Me, who travelled up well, but was outpaced in the last 2f. He may be better when able to dominate, but is high enough in the weights at present.
