DANIEL THOMAS has come right back to his best since he was treated for the equine equivalent of hiccups, and having been unlucky twice he made amends here by overcoming his customary slow start to come from the rear of the field round the wide outside and make up four or five lengths on the favourite in the short straight. His problem would evidently have him in agony after he raced last season, and he should continue paying his way now he is back in such good health.
Jill Dawson made a winning reappearance last season and was clearly well fancied to do so again. Always well placed, she went on over two furlongs out, tightening up the weakening front runner General Knowledge as she did so, and looked the winner when she beat off the challenge of High 'N Dry, only to find the winner coming at her with an irresistible late run. She has her limitations but might well find a similar race.
There was a gap back to Chjimes, who was keen and has still to prove his stamina, and then Onenightinlisbon, who was just staying on past weakening rivals.
