FIGARO FLYER has been struggling a bit this season and did not stand out here, as he has done most of his winning at 6f and gained his last four successes on the Polytrack at Wolverhampton. But he benefited from the strong pace set by Double Bill, and his stamina came into play in the last 150 yards as he forged clear to score with something to spare.
Double Bill, who was running over this trip for the first time when third here last week, had more use made of him on this occasion and, though he ran well enough, was outpointed at the business end. He clearly goes well on this surface, but it remains to be seen whether a sixth furlong may suit him better.
Spirit Of Coniston, who has been well below his best oflate, was doing his best work late on after struggling to go the pace
Count Cougar, who did not impress on the way to post, found himself racing on the slowest ground near the stands' rails and could never get in an effective blow.
