JUST JIMMY caught the eye when an unlucky fifth when dropped back to 5f at Wolverhampton on his previous start, and confirmed that promise stepped back up a furlong in trip.
Again held up, the strong pace played into his hands and he stayed on powerfully when produced with his challenge. This was his first success at the ninth time of asking and, now his connections have found the key to him - a hold-up ride over sprint trips - there could be more to come.
Filligree confirmed the promise she showed when a close third on the Lingfield Polytrack on her reappearance/handicap debut, but just found one too strong. She was well clear of the remainder and, lightly raced, looks well up to winning similar races in the coming weeks.
Shakespeare's Son, having just his second start on turf and his first run for nearly five months, showed bags of early speed and, although finding a couple too good, he kept on for third. He is entitled to come on for this and may also appreciate quicker ground.
Curio ran a respectable race without ever posing a threat. On breeding she would probably have appreciated even easier ground.
Spic 'N Span showed plenty of speed, but he ruined his chance by edging left and weakened inside the final couple of furlongs.
Boss Hog was supported in the market, but he took forever to find his stride and found this trip on the short side. He was noted finishing his race, though, and clearly has ability, so he could be one to look out for in similarly moderate company when stepped back up in trip.
