He looks a slightly awkward customer - he did not corner too well here - but there is no doubting that he has a fair level of ability. Whether he will stay a colt for too long remains to be seen.
Ramaad, whose sole run last season was a creditable one, looked the most likely winner for much of this race. Quickly overcoming a wide draw, he travelled smoothly, but he came under pressure approaching the final furlong and, inclined to edge to his left under pressure, was collared in the dying strides.
Imperial Djay fulfilled the promise he showed on his debut, but the remainder were well held.
