DAAWEITZA came from off the pace and cut down the runner-up near the finish. He needs riding like this and the fast tempo suited him.
Hiccups, a hard horse to win with, brokewell and took a lead. He was produced to win his race and, although he battled on well enough, the winner came at him late and fast well inside the last, at which point he was found wanting.
The first two came clear of the rest, headed by Tencendur, who had every chance.
Sam's Secret, making her seasonal debut, ran a creditable first race of the season.
Imperial Echo was unable to supplement his recent Thirsk win over this extra furlong.
The remainder were well held. King Harson ran well for a long way, but was unable to get an easy lead.
Bel Cantor was found wanting after battling for early honours, while Nuit Sombre, drawn wide, went very fast early on to claim the lead, but he was unable to fend off his pursuers and was soon on the retreat in the straight.
