Heading out of the back straight, it looked as though number seven could be on the cards, but the veteran performer wasfound wanting inside the last quarter-mile, as ANNIBALE CARO came with a wet sail and galloped clear inside the last.
He hs been a very frustrating horse, but he was hard to fault here.
Eijaaz, runner-up in this race last year, ran a fair race on his comeback outing, while Pendragon came from a long way back to finish fourth on his Flat debut. There could be more to come from him.
Court Of Appeal was comfortably held in the end, while Let It Be, over a trip short of her best, was unable to land a serious blow on her seasonal debut.
