There isn't much of the Mtoto gelding, but after running into the back of the weakening Blue Spartan well over a furlong out he responded immediately when switched right to surge between rivals to lead inside the final 200 yards.
His trainer Roger Charlton said: "He's a little bit tricky but it was a fair effort considering it's not an easy track and he got loose."
Pippbrook Gold looks to have gone on from the promise he showed in his sole two-year-old start at the backend. Staying on well at the finish, he went down in a triple photo.
Where's Susie had troubled the judge on her turf comeback and tried to capitalise on her fitness by making the running. To her credit she kept on well when headed and wasn't beaten far.
Blue Spartan had been green when just behind Mooted on his introduction and was again raw in his attitude, hanging left soon after the start and taking Zaarmit with him. He was back in front on straightening up but the incident took its toll as he tired andwas eased at the business end.
