Punching is 11lb higher than for his past all-weather win but in this mood his trainer Gay kelleway could be tempted to go back to sand, on which the four-year-old has been placed in all but one of his five starts this year.
Rydal Mount has good form at this venue with give underfoot but seven furlongs is her optimum trip and she arrived just too late. The Cape Cross mare is poised to return to winning ways granted easy conditions.
\Grey Boy was unleashed with his effort down the stands' side to leave his latest poor run at this venue lengths behind. Like Rydal Mount, he was doing all his best work in the closing stages and wants seven furlongs. Faster ground would also be a boon.
Equulus Pictor is now below his last winning mark and looked for several strides as if he'd burned them off from the front. At least a length and a half clear approaching the distance, he folded in the final 150 yards to finish out of the frame.
Adantino ran as is his custom, staying on at the business end. He never quite looked like justifying his position as favourite and seems a tad high in the ratings.
Bateleur will be all the better for this run back, especially when encountering faster ground, while Scarlet Oak spoiled her chance by hanging left.
