Alhaban close 3rd on outer, challenged 2f out, led over 1f out, edged left inside final furlong, ran on well, comfortably
Spavento dwelt, last and trailing 2f out, stayed on well in final furlong
Dreams Forever close 2nd, narrow advantage 2f out, headed over 1f out, slightly hampered and switched inside final furlong, soon no extra
Roshina led, ridden and headed 2f out, weakened from over 1f out
American Light edged right leaving stalls, chased leaders, 4th and ridden 2f out, weakened final furlong
The race was reduced to five runners when Mister Frosty reared up in the stalls, giving his rider a bang to the knee, and had to be withdrawn.
His omission left four newcomers, including two offspring of Verglas, and it was his son ALHABAN who scored comfortably.
He coped with this ground better than the others, getting the better of the favourite inside the final furlong and drawing away after edging across that rival.
His trainer described him as one who can hopefully go on to better things.
Dreams Forever was the only one with the benefit of a previous run, but the form of his debut third here last month had taken a knock when the runner-up suffered defeat at Tipperary.
After breaking smartly to dispute it up front he was soon struggling to maintain that momentum on this bottomless ground.
Roshina was another smartly away but the distress signals went up approaching the 2f pole, while American Light wasslowly away, went right out of the gate and made no impression.[BF]
