Zafayra prominent, disputed lead early straight, led 1 1/2f out, kept on well

Catch Kally refused to race
Shy Smile almost certainly stepped up on her debut second here in February and should get her turn soon enough. Tracking the pace, she looked a little bit tapped for speed early in the straight but ran on well when pulled to the outside without being any real match for the winner.
Privet showed lots of ability on her two runs last season but this seasonal debut wasn't up to that standard. Racing in mid-division for the first half of the race, she improved somewhat to chase the leading group early in the straight but never looked as though she could get into a challenging position as she eventually just stayed on to be nearest at the finish. She most likely needs a step up in trip to be seen at her best.
Fantosha showed a bit of promise but is unlikely to be good enough to win a maiden. Tracking the leaders for the first half of the race, she could only keep on at one pace inside the final furlong and a half. She needs one more run for a handicap mark and is likely to be seen to better effect in that sphere. [JOH]
