Ms Victoria in rear, 10th 2f out, progress on inner to go 6th 1f out, kept on well

Held up off a strong pace, he made good progress in the straight to challenge a furlong and a half out, and while he wandered a bit to his right inside the final furlong, he took command to win with a little bit more in hand than the half-length margin of victory would suggest. Depending on the reaction of the handicapper, he may now move up to Listed class, but won’t run on turf until the ground dries out.
It was another unlucky effort by the consistent Johnstown Lad. Racing handily throughout, he took it up a furlong and a half out and ran all the way to the line but just found himself beaten by a superior horse. He’ll get his turn in a good handicap and would be equally effective over the minimum trip on good ground or better.
A definite eyecatcher was Ms Victoria. On her seasonal debut, she showed she retains plenty of ability. She raced well off the pace and was plum last turning in before making very strong late headway and just failing to get up for third.
Grigorovitch ran his best race for quite some time. He seems a very headstrong individual, but having been very keen in the chasing group early on, he kept his position in the straight without being able to challenge, beaten in the end by a respectable five and a half lengths. [JOH]
