This was the first time that early-season two-year-old form on Dundalk’s all-weather track came into play and PLAYDATE duly followed up her runner-up effort over this trip there earlier this month. She broke smartly to dispute the lead andwhen asked to get the better of the favourite entering the final furlong duly responded gamely. She’s not much to look at but doesn’t lack in heart and goes on this ground. On this evidence, she should appreciate a little further.
Winter Haven got the better of a duel for third at the expense of easy-to-back Chief Wild Cat and both should benefit from this initial experience.
High Water was blinkered for her debut but she never got in a blow along with another first-timer Battimoore, who ran around when pressure was applied but should learn a lot from this effort.[BF]
