Gundagai tracked leaders, 2nd halfway, under pressure and dropped to 4th after 2 out, kept on same pace

Master Billy chased leaders, 4th halfway, 5th approaching 2 out, kept on one pace from last

Island Life towards rear, some progress before 4 out, 6th approaching 2 out, kept on same pace from last

Top The Charts mid-division, 7th halfway, kept on one pace from 3 out

Rince Donn never better than mid-division

Rathganley Lass mid-division, mistake 3rd, 6th halfway, kept on same pace from 3 out

The Under Bidder tracked leaders, fell 3rd

A long-overdue win for the frustrating IRISH INVADER on his first start since October. Despite the fact that the trip was inadequate and he consistently lost ground by jumping out to his left, he stayed on well to score, although the runner-up may well prove the better long-term prospect. He'll be better over further and probably when going left-handed.

Held up well off the pace, there's plenty of reason for thinking that Sher Why Not should have won. Held up off the pace, he was tracking the leaders and travelling well turning in, but the winner was allowed to steal enough of a march between the final two fences and that move proved decisive. However, the runner-up jumped well and won't be long breaking his duck over fences on this evidence.

Gundagai raced close to the pace throughout with mixed results regarding his jumping, but was beaten between the final two fences. It was a respectable effort.

Master Billy had his first run over fences for 30 months and was never really closer than his finishing position which he held more or less throughout. [JOH]
