Steig chased leader, ridden to lead narrowly 2f out, forged ahead towards finish
Winning Show stumbled start, soon led, ridden over 2f out, narrowly headed 2f out, no extra last 50yds
Support Fund raced in midfield, ridden over 3f out, chased leading pair over 2f out, kept on under pressure final furlong, not reach leading pair
The Dagger held up in rear, angled out and headway 2f out, kept on steadily final furlong, not reach leaders
Millfield taken down early, steadied start, took keen hold, held up in midfield, ridden and effort over 2f out, kept on same pace under pressure final furlong
Hansomelle slowly into stride, always behind, ridden and effort on outer over 2f out, no real headway
Seneschal chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, hung left and weakened final furlong, eased towards finish
Thermidor held up in last pair, ridden and effort 3f out, no headway, eased towards finish
Forcing tactics seemed to suit him best in his all-weather campaign, but it was hard to make a good case for him considering he is 6lb higher on grass.
Winning Show attracted considerable interest in the betting ring, and his rider set his stall out to make all. On his first run for his new trainer, he kept on gamely when headed.
The Dagger, making a quick reappearance after his run at Folkestone, was unable to get away from his rivals, while Millfield probably under-performed as he failed to trouble the judge for the first time in his last five starts. He was only 2lb higher for a recent win and seemed to be going well enough, only to fail to pick up when the chips were down.
