This looked a fair contest, with four previous winners on show, so the way in which SHALONE quickened away from his field in the closing stages had to impress. A Wincanton winner in January, he may not have been suited by the soft ground when beaten by Diamond Harry at Newbury next time, but the Flat-bred gelding put his rivals to the sword here and he looks an interesting prospect for hurdling next season.
