Analyis of the race
The outcome of this very average claiming hurdle was decided by HIGHLAND GAMES wanting to win and Prime Contender giving the impression yet again that he sometimes does not want to.
Despite not being too good at the last two flights, the winner found reserves up the hill to the line to collect. He had pulled up on his last three tries and this was his debut in this grade so that is about as good as he is these days.
Sonnengold plugged on from the home bend without ever looking likely to trouble the principals, while Night Groove was never competitive.
