Soleil Fix made all, mistakes 7th, 12th and 3 out, awkward last, driven out
River Indus chased winner most of way, 1 length down when mistake 2 out, soon hard ridden, kept on same pace
Another Native held up in rear, slightly hampered 10th, headway 12th, tracked leading pair approaching 3 out, shaken up and no extra approaching last
Lidjo De Rouge held up towards rear, headway to chase leaders 11th, outpaced and hard ridden 3 out, 4th and beaten when blundered next
College Ace prominent until ridden and weakened 4 out
Cardenas mid-division, ridden along after 9th, mistake 11th, soon weakened
Novi Sad always behind, ridden and struggling when mistake 12th, no chance after
Jades Double chased leaders until 6th, ridden in rear 8th, hampered 10th, behind when pulled up before next
Scarlet Mix held up in touch, closed on leaders and disputing 3rd when fell 10th
There were a number of less-than-fluent rounds of jumping in this handicap chase with SOLEIL FIX one of the offenders as his rider lost his irons after one error. However he was still good enough to win in a first-time visor and, as he is not exposed in handicap chases (having been running in hunter chases) there might be a bit more to come if his jumping improves.
River Indus took chances at the fences which is surprising because he has had plenty of practice. He probably wants the ground softer. Another Native travelled quite well but could not pick up when asked and he looks to have had a problem or two as this was only his fifth try in three seasons.
