Not a strong race of its type, this was run at a strong pace and the field was quickly strung out.

RED MAN chased the clear leader but the game looked to be up when he blundered at the last down the far side, his rider making a fine recovery. With the pacesetter coming back to the field, he took advantage to show ahead going to the last. He was a decent sort under rules for Evelyn Slack in 2006 but had been pulled up on two of his three starts in Welsh points this spring, which places this form in some sort of perspective.

De Luain Gorm only knows one way of running and he was soon well ahead, but he came back to his field from the third last. To his credit this recent Newton Abbot scorer plugged on for pressure.

Viscount Bankes has been a fine servant to connections but he has not been at his best in recent starts.

Light Des Mulottes held a chance on his Exeter second but faded from the third-last.
