Analyis of the race

A good gallop to this race, which was won by the unexposed SURFACE TO AIR, who had finished a close second in a 2m6f novice chase on his only previous start over fences. Although a touch keen, this longer trip clearly suited him, and after travellingwell, he gained control after the second-last and was driven out. Further improvement is likely, and he could be an interesting sort in the autumn.

Lucky Nellerie, who was pulled up at Folkestone on his previous start, shaped much better this time, making the running and keeping on well.

Third went to Stagecoach Diamond, who has yet to win over fences but has run a series of good races in defeat and did so again here, being one of four to draw clear from the third-last and keeping on without quickening.

Silver Sedge travelled well for a long way but didn''''t seem to stay.

Petite Margot , who has run so consistently and well all season, was never going this time and was eventually pulled up.
