Analyis of the race

NERO WEST, who had made such an encouraging reappearance when finishing second at Newcastle last month, went one better in this Class 4 handicap. Always prominent, he went to the front a fair way from home and refused to be denied under pressure inside the last two furlongs. Although not always predictable, he looks in good order at present.

Pee Jay's Dream, upped 4lb for his Thirsk success, had every chance, but was never able to claw back the winner.

Cotton Eyed Joe, raised 7lb for his all-weather success, travelled nicely off the pace. Asked a question entering the final two furlongs, he stayed on, but was never able to find enough quickly enough to muster a serious challenge.
