A competitive renewal of this historic handicap. The pace, fairly generous for the first two furlongs, seemed to ease before the final dash to the line from over two furlongs out. EXTRATERRESTRIAL, having his third outing for Richard Fahey since being bought out Kevin Prendergast's stable in October, travelled well off the pace and moved through strongly before staying on well for pressure. He came from a high draw, so there may be more to come from him.

Regal Parade went down fighting in second, having held every chance. He can surely gain compensation.

Collateral Damage ran a creditable race, but was never quite able to peg back the leaders, while Scartozz, who duelled for the lead, was found wanting when the chips were down.
