Dark Islander dropped in after start, held up in touch, headway to chase leaders on outer over 2f out, wide and lost place 2f out, headway under pressure over 1f out, hung left but ran on well to lead towards finish
Racer Forever held up well in touch, headway over 2f out, driven and edged left 1f out, led inside final furlong, headed and no extra towards finish
Vanderlin chased leaders for 1f, tracked leading pair after, ridden and effort over 1f out, every chance 1f out, kept on same pace last 100yds
Jack Sullivan chased leaders after 1f, driven and came wide on bend 2f out, kept on same pace final furlong
Vitznau held up in last pair, ridden and effort over 1f out, kept on same pace
Smart Enough raced keenly, soon led, ridden over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, faded well inside final furlong
Racer Forever looked to have swooped to conquer when bursting through to lead approaching the final furlong. He took winning Nad Al Sheba form into the race and did everything right, only to be nailed close home. As this was only his second all-weather start, he's entitled to improve for the run.
Vitznau was a popular order in the betting ring. Ridden to come late, he looked to be going well enough approaching the final furlong but didn't find as much as had been the case on his previous winning start at Kempton. He was also disappointing on his only previous visit here.
Jack Sullivan is a credit to his trainer but he was unable to raise his game after swinging for home on the tail of the leader.
*Jamie Spencer reported that Jack Sullivan had gone lame.
