Analyis of the race

This looked a warm heat and all credit to DARK ISLANDER, whose charge from last to first owed much to a peach of a ride. Not disgraced in two Dubai outings in the winter, the five-year-old displayed sufficient speed to have his trainer John Hills considering a crack at sprinting. Hills said: "We were going to go over six furlongs at Newmarket but this horse must have fast ground and I was worried about the forecast up there. We were fortunate that Smart Enough set a nice steady pace."

Racer Forever looked to have swooped to conquer when bursting through to lead approaching the final furlong. He took winning Nad Al Sheba form into the race and did everything right, only to be nailed close home. As this was only his second all-weather start, he's entitled to improve for the run.

Vitznau was a popular order in the betting ring. Ridden to come late, he looked to be going well enough approaching the final furlong but didn't find as much as had been the case on his previous winning start at Kempton. He was also disappointing on his only previous visit here.

Jack Sullivan is a credit to his trainer but he was unable to raise his game after swinging for home on the tail of the leader.

*Jamie Spencer reported that Jack Sullivan had gone lame.
