Analyis of the race

Having had his share of starting problems, including when refusing to race last term, SKHILLING SPIRIT won for the first time in two years under a nice ride. Pulled out at the two pole, he came up the centre and won going away. He's in today's ThirskHunt Cup and connections say he's an intended runner unless a problem arises overnight.

Il Castagno again made the running on a track that suits trailblazers. He took some passing but might need a little help from the handicapper to go one better.

Cha Cha Cha goes well over this course and distance and ran another mighty race despite finding the ground a little too soft on this occasion.

Stevie Gee was well placed for a long way but ended up running a little lifeless. He's had a few races in quick succession and might need freshening up.

Byron Bay had the cheekpieces left off but didn't run that badly. He's on a decent mark even though his barren spell stretches back over two years.
