Ephorus led 1f, tracked leader, challenged well over 1f out, soon ridden, stayed on inside final furlong to lead final 75yds
Sir Royal led after 1f, ridden along well over 1f out, driven and edged right entering final furlong, headed and no extra final 75yds
Sea Chorus tracked leading pair, effort 3f out, ridden along 2f out, driven and one pace approaching final furlong
Coin Of The Realm tracked leaders, pushed along 3f out, ridden well over 1f out and soon beaten
King Kenny held up, effort and some headway over 2f out, soon ridden and weakened
EPHORUS chased the leader from the start, and though he still looked green on just his second outing, he knuckled down to his task in the final furlong and got up near the finish.
The form is not outstanding and the winner was helped by the way the race was run, but this step up to 1m2f clearly suited him and this stoutly bred colt is likely to progress again as he moves up further in distance. And he is entitled to improve further with experience, so would have prospects of more success if not hit too hard by the handicapper.
Nor was King Kenny able to get into it from behind, though he has yet to prove that he retains all the ability he showedlast year.
