BANKABLEe completed his hat-trick, shrugging off an 8lb rise for his handicap debut win last backend. This big likeable colt showed signs of rustiness, being slowly away and needing shaking up to join issue before coming back on the bridle moving upsides.
He was driven out into the final furlong to assert and looked like winning by two or three lengths. The Royal Hunt Cup is the aim with another run first which might be needed to get him into the race depending how the handicapper reacts to this. His trainer warned that firm ground would be the worry for Royal Ascot.
Tastahil repaid connections persevering with this maiden winner. This will have blown the cobwebs away and he kept on well after always chasing the pace and he can progress to show he has a favourable handicap mark. He looks to have a valuable handicap in him.
Red Somerset had the fitness edge and had been eased a few pounds in defeat this season after an 8lb rise. He travelled as well as anything through the race, covered up. Both he and Habshan looked distracted as The Snatcher started to hang left in their path as they started their runs without suggesting they would have given the winner more to think about but they might have worried Tastahil more. Back on a sounder surface, both remain interesting off their marks.
The Snatcher is already 3lb higher than under this penalty, so enthusiasm is tempered somewhat. He has won off a higher mark still and after nearly two years in the wilderness, he has returned in cracking form.
Murrinconfirmed his good run last time was no fluke but he only hit top stride in the last 2f, staying on well in the pack without threatening to worry the front five. He may have been over the top when weakening disappointingly when tried over 10 at the end of last season and on this display looks worth another try over a bit further.
Kabellero travelled well through the race but then started to hang when pushed along and did not impress with his head carriage. He has not won for two years and has enjoyed cut in the ground so should be treated with caution.
Jawaab gave himself no chance in these conditions by running far too freely early.
Alpes Maritimes could not translate his good all-weather form back to turf off his higher mark butwas not disgraced. Pulled widest towards the inside rail part of the track, he plugged on after his 95-day break and can build on the bare form on better ground.[BJ]
