Cesare stalked front four, switched right and cruised upsides entering final furlong, led final 75yds, eased ahead, unextended
Don´t Panic took keen hold tracking leaders, ridden to challenge 2f out, remained pressing leaders inside final furlong, went 2nd final 75yds but no chance with winner
Drumfire prominent, ridden over 2f out, remained pressing leaders inside final furlong, kept on but no chance with winner final 75yds
Caldra tracked leaders, ridden over 2f out, never able to mount pace to challenge, went 4th final strides
Ordnance Row led, ridden 2f out, held narrow advantage until headed by winner final 75yds, faded and lost 4 places
There was no early pace on, but it was clear when the sprint for home began with around 3f to run that he was moving best of all and, under the cheekiest of ridesfrom Jamie Spencer, he emerged to the leaders travelling all over them at the final furlong marker.
He eventually sauntered home without coming off the bridle, or his jockey moving a muscle, and obviously rates value for plenty further than his winning margin.
Any surface seems to come alike to the seven-year-old, he is clearly in love with this straight mile, and his form figures here now read 115141. This should now put him spot on for a crack at the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury next month, when he will likely line up as favourite, as he attempts to find that elusive and deserved first Group 1 success.
Drumfire showed the clear benefit of his lacklustre return from a lay-off at Yarmouth 12 days previously and posted a much more encouraging effort in defeat. He likes this sort of ground and, while not hard to place successfully nowadays, should come on a little again for the run.
Caldra, returning from a 179-day break, was another who would have not ideally enjoyed the steady early pace. He was found wanting from 2f out and left the impression this comeback run was needed, but is another who is not going to prove simple to place this term.
Ordinance Row also falls intothat ‘twilight' category, but this would have been an insufficient test for his own liking and he should be expected to last longer now his has this outing under his belt.[DO]
