Analyis of the race

TEN DOWN, having his first run since being claimed out of Jamie Osborne's stable seven weeks ago, responded well to a positive ride to produce possibly his best effort to date. He did edge right in the closing stages, something he has also done in the past, and Piscean was closing him down with every stride in the last 100 yards, but the pair finished clear of the pack and the winner's form looks pretty solid.

Piscean, who had finished ahead of Ten Down at Kempton last October but was here having his first outing since November, came from well off the pace to finish an excellent second and - on this evidence - has gone the right way from two to three. However, he had a tendency to give ground away at the start as a juvenile and will need to besharper away if he is to realise his potential this season.
