Yakimov tracked leaders, effort on bit and not clear run over 1f out, switched outside and quickened to lead just inside final furlong, soon clear
Little Jimbob led, ridden over 2f out, headed over 1f out, driven and kept on inside final furlong, no chance with winner
Rambling Socks close up, ridden 2f out, led over 1f out, driven and headed just inside final furlong, one pace
Apres Ski dwelt, pulled hard and soon prominent, effort to challenge 2f out and every chance until ridden, edged left and weakened entering final furlong
Hi Spec dwelt, soon chasing leaders, effort on inner and every chance 2f out, soon ridden and weakened over 1f out
Art Of Being close up, ridden along over 2f out, soon driven and weakened
Ticking always in rear, behind final 3f
The winner was completing a four-timer, though he was having his first run for his current connections who plan to bring him back here next Tuesday for a similar race.
Little Jimbob, last seen out over fences, was making his first appearance since the end of September on the Flat, and though no match for Yakimov at these weights he was clear second best and can win a little handicap.
Apres Ski missed all last season and this was his second run back. He was well beaten in the end, but he did have some fair form in 2006 and may need another run or two to get back to something like his best.
Hi Spec was below par last time and may just be going off the boil, but she had run poorly on her last visit here and maybe the Fibresand does not really suit her.
The vet reported that Ticking finished lame.
