Although readily put in his place when favourite on his return to action at Wolverhampton, the winner looked to have done well for the run and had solid claims on his two juvenile efforts.
Brexca, a bit unruly at the start, settled into a rhythm just in behind the leaders, but needed to be kicked along to remain with the horses in front of him on straightening up. Staying on steadily up the centre of the course, he was doing good work at the finish without threatening to reel-in the winner. Any stamina question was answered positively.
Calamansac proved betterthan her well-backed stablemate Houri and, after leading for much of the way, kept on to trouble the judge. She has a good staying pedigree and should improve.
Celtic Dragon attracted late money, but struggled to make any impact in the straight. She probably wants at least this far.
Houri, entitled to be competitive on what she showed last year, never looked like rewarding her backers.
