Royal Fantasy steadied after start, held up in last, crept nearer over 3f out, switched right over 1f out, soon ridden, stayed on to go 3rd near finish, not pace to threaten winner
Moon Mix took keen hold, held up in last pair, headway 4f out, every chance and ridden over 1f out, unable to quicken, lost 2 places last 100yds
Motarjm chased leader, led 3f out, headed and ridden 2f out, beaten when short of room inside final furlong
Greyfriars Abbey raced awkwardly and wanting to hang throughout, led until 3f out, weakened over 2f out, no chance from over 1f out
Analyis of the race
The decision to keep ABANDON in training, although she has just been covered by her owner's stallion Pivotal, paid immediate dividends as she completed her four-timer in taking style. This was something of a tactical race with Greyfriars Abbey setting a steady pace while hanging badly and looking very uneasy. He was swallowed up in the dash through the last 2f with Abandon in no danger of defeat through the final furlong, having quickened up well and she won with a little in hand. With the paddocks looming, her season is short and if she comes out of the race well, she could head to Salisbury in three weeks for a fillies' handicap.
Royal Fantasy, switched off at the back, stayed on late after initially being kept in as Moon Mix swept by on her outer halfway up the straight. She was adding another placing without threatening to win and is proving frustrating.
