Shot To Fame prominent, ridden 3f out, ran on to lead inside final furlong
Apache Dawn held up in last place, shaken up over 1f out, good late headway to take 2nd near finish
The Jailer led, hard ridden over 1f out, headed and one pace inside final furlong
Samuel Charles slowly into stride, headway to chase leaders after 2f, went 2nd over 3f out, one pace final furlong
Marko Jadeo mid-division on rail, effort over 2f out, kept on under pressure final furlong
Da Bookie held up in rear, ridden 3f out, stayed on approaching final furlong
Tiepie chased leaders until weakened 1f out
Victor Trumper towards rear, ridden 3f out, never dangerous
Majestical chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened well over 1f out
Wee Buns took keen hold in midfield, effort on outside over 2f out, weakened well over 1f out
The first-time blinkers certainly had no adverse effect on Apache Dawn, who after turning in ninth of the ten runners weaved his way through the field to give chase to the winner. This was his best effort for some time, and this grade could prove his best chance of success.
Samuel Charles, like the winner, continues to defy his age, and ran well to be fourth, while Marko Jadeo and Da Bookie, who kept on fairly well from the rear, also finished in front of younger rivals.
Tiepie, dropping into a seller for the first time, was slightly disappointing, in that he started fourth favourite.
