Adrian Keatley, assistant to trainer Oliver McKiernan, told the stewards that less testing ground and a change of tactics had probably accounted for the winner's apparent improvement in form.
Ghostmilk, whose only win came off a 2lb lower mark over this trip at Listowel in September, showed improvement from her first run of the season at Dundalk. She made headwayfrom mid division early in the straight and ran on well inside the final furlong, without troubling the winner.
Rockazar, without a win for two years, is far from straightforward and has a habit of running on only when all is lost and that was the case again here as he put in his best work in the closing stages.
Sheer Silk, winner of a 6f handicap at the Curragh late last season, should come on for this first run of the year. Munich, third over 6f on testing ground at Cork last month, was a springer in the market but was reported to have become upset in the stalls and never counted. [TO'H]
