Burns said: “He’ll go to Killarney again for the Murphys Irish Stout Handicap Hurdle and hopefully Nina [Carberry] will be available. We have five weeks to prime him for that.” He should appreciate the likelihood of more drying ground next month.
The lightly raced Honey Run hadn't run since winning over further at Tramore last August but she showed enough here to suggest she should be winning again soon. Coming from these quarters, she's probably likely to jump a hurdle before long and she might want another couple of furlongs to be seen at her best in this sphere.
Dani's Girl was faced with a tough task shouldering this big weight but she kept on under pressure in the closing stages. The stewards inquired into possible interference in the closing stages and after looking at the evidence advised her rider to ride with more care in the future.
Sagarich, not seen since last September, was done no favours inside the final furlongwhen tight for room and was probably better than her final placing.
Dukedom raced prominently and got to the front in the straight but he emptied quickly when challenged. This was his first outing of the year and he might be capable of some improvement.
First-time blinkers failed to have the desired effect on Indian Spring, while Grade 2-winning chaser Don’t Be Bitin raced in the leading group but couldn’t maintain that momentum entering the straight. His two previous Flat wins came over 1m4f and this shorter journey was probably against him. [BF]
