Dermot Weld saddled the useful Dimitrova to win this corresponding race in 2003 and he also rates this Danehill Dancer filly, who failed to build on her creditable third in the Goffs Million until now.
She tired in the deep ground at Cork last weekend when sent off the odds-on favourite, according to her trainer, but that outing stood to her on this better surface. She pulled out plenty for her rider and the Irish 1,000 Guineas will now figure in her future plans. Sponsors Boylesports cut her to 25-1 along with William Hill for the Curragh classic on May 25.
Halfway To Heaven, stable companion of the unlucky Psalm, had a previous course-and-distance success to her credit on fast ground but was tackling this contrasting surface for the first time. She emerged as a serious challenger entering the straight but couldn't get the better of her rival after the pair pulled a couple clear of the remainder. This was a decent performance on ground that was probably against her.
Yali was expected to run well by connections on her first run back. She crept closer approaching the straight and kept on under pressure. She looks a filly who should appreciate a step up in trip and can hopefully build on this pleasing display.
Dash Back had proved a costly favourite on her only start at two and she never threatened at the business here although when dropped in class should be more than capable of winning before long.
Queen Jock had competed in Dubai earlier in the year, finishing down the field in the UAE 1,000 Guineas on her latest start in February. This easier ground was not ideal for her and she should be capable of better on a decent surface. [BF]
