A good tough performance here from the progressive mare BROTENSTOWN and she ran out a deserving winner. Always prominent, she led three out and while the runner-up travelled like a winner behind her, she found plenty from the front and had too many guns. She will most likely go chasing next year, but she’s still improving and if kept on the go, the good mares’ hurdle at Punchestown would seem a natural target.

Runner-up Brave Betsy flattered to deceive in a major way. She travelled like a dream the whole way, closing up on the winner at the second-last, but when asked to race she couldn’t go with the winner. She’s a mare with plenty of ability that will win more races, but just didn’t find nearly as much as she threatened to on this day.

Forgivememaria ran a perfectly respectable race. Always handily placed on the inner, she closed after the third-last, and while she could never really get close enough to challenge, she kept on well for pressure. Whether she got the trip is a bit inconclusive on this evidence.

The diminutive Handfull Of Euros was at the front end most of the way, leading six from the finish before the winner headed her before the third-last. She kept on at the one pace from the top of the straight. [JOH]
