Apart from his poor run in the County Hurdle, Victram has come back to something like his best over the last month and this was another good run, even given the fact that he looked to have a very good chance under the race conditions. This contest probably wasn’t really run to suit him and the winner was just too good on the day. After being pushed along three out, he stayed on from after the second-last to be a good second without being good enough to get any closer to the winner.
On his first start for 18 months, Good Thyne Jack ran very well indeed. Mid-division off the slow pace, he was in a challenging position two out but just kept on at one pace from there. He did have a high rating the last time he ran over hurdles, but he also was a horse that wanted further, and considering the way the race was run it was a very creditable effort.
Marhaba Million was in the first three most of the way and was still close enough at the top of the straight. He just appeared to be feeling the pinch when making a slight mistake at the second-last, which ended his chance. [JOH]
