It does give the trainer plenty of options and the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot would look to be his next target, however he can be assured that race will be run like a proper sprint whereas this race wasn't.
It wasn't entirely surprising that Abraham Lincoln ran the race he did as he has at times looked to be a horse with that level of ability. Held up early, he came to challenge and lead a furlong out and just proceeded to drift slightly to his left before the winner did him on the line. He may have just been feeling the ground somewhat but it was certainly a career-best run.
Snaefell continued his progress and considering the race possibly wasn't run to suit him he ran a hell of a race. He always travelled at the head of the field but got to the front over a furlong out and that was probably plenty soonenough for him to lead in a race of this nature as the first two quickened last him in the last half-furlong.
Short-priced favourite Myboycharlie ran disappointingly. He didn't seem to do himself too many favours early on in the race, racing keenly and exhibiting an awkward head carriage and was unable to find any extra when headed over a furlong and a half out. He's entitled to come on for the run but no doubt that this was a fairly flat effort.
An Tadh ran well for a long way, tracking the leaders and although he didn't look like winning over a furlong out it would havd been no surprise to see him keep on for a place. However, he lost his place quite quickly inside the final furlong and dropped back a few lengths.
Not for the first time, Finicius disappointed when upped to Group company. He was in trouble as soon as the pace quickened and dropped quickly away, eventually eased down inside the last furlong, while Great Rumpuscat was never a factor. [JOH]
