PORTERS WAR showed promise in bumpers, but was well beaten on his hurdles debut. This better ground clearly suited him, and jumping well, he moved through to challenge from three out, went clear going to the last and ran on in good style. This was only his fourth race, so improvement can be expected though this wasn't a strong event.
Runner-up Dakota Boy improved on his previous efforts over hurdles, running on to take second, and was another who seemed to be suited by the faster ground.
Capetonian has proved rather disappointing since coming over from France, though it remains to be seen whether this quicker ground suited him. He made the running and was still in front at the last on the far side, but he dropped away from the second-last to finish over 10l back in third.
Cool Cliche raced in touch for a long way, but was beaten three out, and though Pouilly travelled up well and was in touch three out, he didn't find a great deal. However, it was his first run since November, so he may just have needed it. These six were well clear of the remainder.
