Ballinteni chased leader, ridden well over 2f out, weakened just over 1f out

Analyis of the race

They went a reasonable pace and MR AVIATOR had few problems confirming the impression of a sound effort behind the progressive Philatelist in the Rosebery at Kempton six days earlier after losing a shoe. He was due to go up 3lb for that effort and was always travelling well before being asked to hit the front just inside the final furlong and soon asserted. He handled this track well enough, appears on the upgrade and connections believe he will be up to winning at Listed level on the all-weather.

Luberon, winner of the Rosebery himself off this mark last year, ran well on his first outing since September of last year and was soon bowling along nicely in front. He had little problem confirming Kempton form with the fourth. He should come on for the run and is on a mark from which he can win.

Scamperdale was held up in the early stages and brought wide with his effort from the home turn. He has been a model of consistency and probably ran right up to his best as he was 6lb better off with the winner for their last clash at Kempton and ran accordingly. He could well find another race against fully exposed rivals off his current mark.

Jeer was having his first outing since June of last year and was held up and kept on at one pace but should improve for the run and could do better back on the turf when there is some cut in the ground. Ballinteni was a little disappointing becausehe had run well behind the winner at Kempton and was 4lb better off for a length and threequarters at Kempton 16 days earlier. He faded in the closing stages. (TE)
