MAJOR CADEAUX travelled well through the race and won a shade cosily, with his rider waiting to make a move until into the final furlong for the colt's first success at this longer trip. He had got stuck in the mud last time but saw out the trip well on the drying ground to open up more opportunities. He has not looked a Group 1 performer, so is going to be hard to place to advantage with a penalty for lower Group races.
Rob Roy made a most satisfactory return to Britain after his American foray. He was entitled to win on the bare ratings and momentarily looked to have made a winning move inside the last two furlongs. He kept on well and can build on this run against rivals with an edge in race fitness.
Metropolitan Man can be rated a shade unlucky, as he went up the blind alley near the rail before being switched and staying on strongly through the final furlong to suggest he would have gone close with a clear run. He has benefited for finding his feet in Dubai recently and this was by some way his best run. Winless since a class 3 at Hamilton in July 2006, he can take a Group race on this showing.
BlytheKnight was slightly hampered going to the final furlong as Metropolitan Man edged his way out, but he looked held on ground that was drying out against him. He is another hard to place to advantage outside handicaps after his good Lincoln effort.
Babadona ran as well as could be expected at this level, but Medicine Path clearly did not run to his form, with his rider reporting that the colt was never travelling, although he made a brief effort halfway up the straight on the wide outside of the pack. He was eased when beaten. [BJ]
