General Eliott tracked leading pair, shaken up over 2f out, not clear run on inner over 1f out, driven and squeezed through final furlong to lead last 75yds
Charm School started slowly, held up in last, urged along and green over 2f out, hard ridden and gradually stayed on final furlong, never quite able to challenge
Steele Tango in touch in 4th, ridden on outer over 2f out, closed over 1f out, tried to challenge inside final furlong, kept on
Zakhaaref led, shaken up and looked in command over 1f out, driven and headed last 75yds, lost 2 places last strides
Manassas tracked leader, ridden over 2f out, closed to challenge just over 1f out, held when squeezed out last 150yds
GENERAL ELIOTT can be rated better than his bare form, as he didn't have much room approaching the furlong marker and had to squeeze through a very narrow gap, but once he got through he won a shade comfortably. He is in the French 2,000 Guineas, but Paul Cole was in no hurry to commit him.
Charm School was hugely impressive in his maiden at Doncaster, but having been held up in last in this better company off a far from breakneck gallop, he came under strong pressure from two furlongs out and was never closer than at the finish, where he was forced to share second place with the seemingly improved outsider Steele Tango, who was a Polytrack winner at Kempton early this yearand had never raced on turf.
Manassas was beaten when he was squeezed out, but he can be rated as if he finished closer.
