Ruairi chased leader, led after 3rd, stayed on under strong pressure run-in
King Mak chased winner from 4th, not jump well, blundered 4 out, almost upsides when stumbled landing last, kept on same pace last 100yds
Majorca held up, went prominent 6th, took modest 3rd 3 out, one pace
Akilak held up in rear, kept on to take modest 4th 2 out, never on terms
Just Jaffa not fluent, chased leaders, weakened approaching 3 out
Helen Wood went prominent 6th, hampered next, weakened 4 out, 4th when hit next
The Stickler in rear, behind when mistake 4 out, tailed off 2 out, pulled up before last
Present Oriented chased leaders, weakened 8th, soon behind, pulled up before 3 out
However, King Mak might well have beaten him but for making mistakes. He rallied after stumbling after the last fence, but could not reel in the winner, whom he had chased from an early stage. He clearly needs to brush up his jumping but has the ability to win more races over fences.
Akilak could never get into it and continues to disappoint, while Just Jaffa has yet to confirm the promise of his chasing debut success at Towcester and Helen Wood continues below her best.
