Auntie Kathleen faced a stiffer task than when winning a claiming chase at Ayr seven days earlier and made an encouraging debut for her new trainer, keeping on well.
Hunter chaser Vital Spark ran his best race in handicap company, chasing the leader for a long way but weakening on the run-in.
Of the more fancied runners, Ouragan De Prairie was badly let down by his jumping, Time Bandit disappointed again, while Willies Way remains out of form.
