OUZBECK had disappointed in his two most recent outings, but he had shown fair form previously, was reported to have come back to himself in recent weeks and proved it on the track, just getting the better of a good battle with the runner-up from the final flight. He clearly handles a sound surface and is back in good shape, so could win again this summer.
Qulinton lost little in defeat, leading from the sixth flight and soon clear, having all bar the winner in trouble off the home turn and only just worn down in the end. He had not beaten much when scoring at Plumpton earlier in the year, but this confirmed that he is fairly useful and also suggested he has the speed to be equally effective if returned to 2m.
Masked Man was again unable fully to confirm the promise of his heavy ground Uttoxeter win, but he was clear of Laborec, who was again below his best.
Commander Kev did not have the pace to get competitive in these conditions.
