The winner had reportedly been suffering from corns when pulled up on her penultimate start and was reckoned to have needed the race next time out but had run well prior to those efforts and is up to winning again in this type of contest next season.
Go West appeals as much the best chaser at the weights in this line-up as he dominated from a long way out. Having raced with the leader from the off on this chasing debut, he led from the eleventh fence, was soon clear and held a seemingly commanding advantage on the home turn. But he had shown a tendency to jump to the right and did so markedly two out, where he held a ten-length lead, tired and was headed at he last. He travelled like much the best horse through most of the race and did much the best of those who were ridden prominently so should be able to win over fences off this mark - he is clearly less than straightforward but may benefit from switching to racing right-handed.
Parkinson was also suited by the way the race was run, whereas the likes of Sharp Jack and Nevada Red are probably better than the bare form after paying the price for racing closer to the strong pace.
