CANALTURN was the pick on what he had achieved on his previous two starts and confirmed that promise with a ready success, leading four out and holding on well. Fences beckon for him next season and he should make a fair novice over a distance of ground.
It’s In The Stars has clearly not been easy to train and was returning from a 468-day layoff but he had shown promise in his younger days and proved that he retains ability. He went clear with the winner from two out and would have gone closer but for hitting the final flight. He should win a similar event provided he stays sound.
General Potter was not disgraced, weakening only from four out, while Public Esteem and Youluckyman showed a smidgeon of ability.
Island Key made the running but weakened from three out and may not have stayed the trip.
Caheerloch spoilt his chance with a mistake at the eighth flight. He might be worth another chance.
