Millfield steadied start, pulled hard in rear, hard ridden and headway over 1f out, ran on to lead final 75yds
Haasem held up in touch, joined leader over 3f out, led well over 1f out, hard ridden and pricked ears, headed and no extra final 75yds
Cape Velvet behind, pushed along 4f out, stayed on to chase first 2 final furlong
Moyoko chased leaders on rail, outpaced over 2f out, always held after
Goose Green prominent until hard ridden and weakened over 1f out
Metropolitan Chief led until well over 1f out, soon weakened
Finsbury held up in 6th, effort and hard ridden 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Power Ballad prominent until weakened and eased 3f out
MILLFIELD has been running consistently on the all-weather and clearly got bogged down on his return to softerturf. He was settled at the back as he is inclined to race freely but he found plenty when needed inside the final furlong to get pas Haasem, who had ground his way to the front inside the last wo furlongs as Metropolitan Chief gave way, again failing to see out this longer trip.
Cape Velvet did not look happy on the track, especially racing downhill as he was outpaced at the back. Brought widest to challenge in the last two furlongs, he kept on uphill but could not match the handicapper's rise for his good all-weather start to the year. He could yet defy this mark back on a flat track.
