Napoletano steadied start, held up in rear, not clear run over 2f out, switched wide and headway over 1f out, stayed on to lead final 50yds
Support Fund mid-division, pushed along 4f out, good headway to lead 1f out, headed and not quicken final 50yds
Wiltshire steadied start, held up towards rear, ridden 3f out, hung left and stayed on approaching final furlong, never nearer
Franksalot behind, ridden halfway, stayed on approaching final furlong, not reach leaders
Moon Forest steadied start, soon chasing leaders, ridden to lead well over 1f out, hung left, headed and weakened 1f out
Teen Ager in touch, effort when not much room inside final 2f, one pace
Briannsta chased leaders, effort over 2f out, hard ridden, one pace
Magroom held up in midfield on rail, nowhere to go 2f out until switched wide 1f out, never able to recover in time and not knocked about
Zazous towards rear, ridden halfway, never dangerous
Outer Hebrides with leaders, carried left over 1f out, weakened final furlong
Mr Rev led until headed well over 1f out, 4th and just held when hampered on rail approaching final furlong, not recover and eased
Chiltai in touch on outside, outpaced after 3f, soon lost place
That scenario has always suited NAPOLETANO, who is best coming through beaten horses off a strong pace. He deserves plenty of credit for this ultimately comprehensive win as he was one of those denied a clear run against the heavily-populated inside rail and he had to switch wide to get daylight, giving what looked a winning lead to Support Fund. He needs everything to fall right for him but on this display this big horse can certainly win another race in this banding.
Support Fund beat the rest out of sight, kicking clear into the final furlong, showing he has plenty of pace for this drop back in trip. The handicapper left him alone for his good comeback run and he looks ready to strike.
Teen Ager and Magroom have excuses in that they were denied running room, most seriously Magroom, who looked ready to have a say but could not recover when finally switched off the inside rail.
Moon Forest was reported to have hung left downhill. Wiltshire was reported unsuited to the track.
